Figueres

Lies 20 km from Roses and it is the capital city of the area. It is an active commercial and communication centre. The town is the birthplace of artist Salvador Dalí and houses the Teatre-Museu Gala-Dalí where you can admire most of his works. It is also worth visiting the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya, the Toy Museum of Catalonia, which contains over 4,000 pieces from around the world and from different periods. The Museum of Empordà, which houses the permanent collection of works by local artists as well as temporary exhibitions. On the outskirts, do not miss a guided tour of Sant Ferran Castle, an impressive 18thC fortress, the second largest in Europe.
